Hope for Degenerative Disc disease and Stenosis

I enjoy treating and helping people with complicated issues like stenosis. Stenosis can be described as spurs choking off the wires (nerves) in your spine. Patients have the option for relief without surgery and injections. At MOCA, we have attained great success with a special technique called Cox distractions, of which Dr. Lok is certified.

Cox distraction is a gentle, safe, and non-forceful procedure which isolates one vertebral motion at a time. It works by reducing the stenotic effect by dropping disc pressure to allow disc reduction and to increase the side of the hole where the nerve comes out (intervertebral foramen).

Benefits and Goals
  1. Removes tension on the annular fibers of the disc and spinal nerve by making more room and improving circulation

  2. Drops the pressure of the nucleus of the disc

  1. Increases the area of the intervertebral foramen up to 28%

  1. Restores vertebral joints to their physiological relationships of motion (aligns the spine)

  1. Duration of care: we seek a 50% relief of pain within 30 days of care. We also monitor progressive nerve deficit or cauda equina and refer the patient elsewhere if needed.
