Dizziness / Vertigo

The three causes we see in our office for dizziness/balance are:

  1. Neck dysfunction messing up the nerves (misalignments in the skull/neck)

  2. Inner ear dysfunction (Benign Positional Vertigo)

  3. Brain Tumor (rare)

Most of the time, we get the best results by adjusting the atlas (the first bone in the neck).  Those nerves (wires) connect to the little proprioceptive joints in the neck that keep your head straight.

The second most common cause is BPV (Benign Positional Vertigo) . Acupuncture works great for this, as well as Eustachian Tube Adjustments (adjusting the ears).  Patients actually request this treatment sometimes at each visit.

The third cause is a tumor. I have only seen this once in 30 years and the patient wasn’t dizzy. It was their gait and balance while walking. We do screening tests to make sure you don’t have this rare cause of dizziness/vertigo.

I enjoy treating vertigo/dizziness, as the response is fast and patients usually do quite well.
